The idea for a community potluck came to Workman not long after she donated Bryce’s beloved bicycle to a 12-year-old Syrian boy in February through the volunteer-run Syrian Refugees Support Group.
The emotional donation spurred a friendship between Workman, the Syrian boy and his family.
Soon, Workman was visiting the newcomers and their neighbours in Forest Lawn.
