We need to start by understanding what a sensory environment is and what its purpose is. There isn’t a huge amount of research or empirical evidence on sensory environments and their benefits. Our understanding of the benefits comes from first hand experience, watching users and talking to carers and teachers. The continued demand from schools, hospitals, care homes, hospices and families to help them create these special spaces is further testament of the real benefits and need that exists for quality sensory environments.
