A windshield is made with two layers of glass separated by a layer of PVB that performs several objectives; it adhesives the layers together and bonds them, it enhances the glass in the event of a break (compeling it crumble as opposed to shatter into huge fatal fragments) as well as it reduces UV direct exposure.
